Mississippi Subcamp

The Mississippi River is the second longest river in North America, flowing 2,340 miles from its source at Lake Itasca, in northern Minnesota, through the centre of the continental United States to the Gulf of Mexico.  With its tributaries, the Mississippi drains all or part of 31 U.S. states and two provinces in Canada.  The Mississippi also tracks the adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer on the great Mississippi steamboats.  All steam ahead for adventures on the Mississippi Subcamp.

Introducing the Subcamp team

Our Subcamp Leader Jo, is probably more at home producing Southend Gang Show. Taking them to perform at the Albert Hall and the Eventim Apollo - her claim to fame is that she conducted Live 07 at the 02 arena.

Our deputy Subcamp Leader is called LJ. Not his real name, but in his youth he worked at Belchamps on the service crew alongside many other Johns! Being the smallest at the time, the name "Little John" stuck - and he is now forever known as LJ.

We knew we wanted to take on the US river in honour of our US team member. We are looking forward to seeing what American goodies she can fit in her bag to share with the rest of team whose Jambo experiences range from nothing to lots! Our team have cooked, led participant groups, run the 'It's a Knockout' zone, helped on Subcamps, been on security, helped with comms, led evening entertainment, DJ'd on the radio and run the staff Subcamp.
