Safeguarding and Welfare

Safeguarding Team

No query is too small, it is better to raise the concern than to ignore it.

Safeguarding the young people and adults at the Jamboree is essential and key to our collective responsibility. The Safeguarding Team will be working closely with Guiding and Scouting headquarters as situation managers in order to support all reported safeguarding concerns.

The ‘yellow card’ and ‘safe space’ should be followed at all times and reporting procedures must be followed as per our organisation rules.

We ask that when you report you also let the Jamboree safeguarding team know so that we can support you and the person concerned whilst waiting on further advice and guidance from headquarters.

The Jamboree safeguarding policy can be found here.

The Safeguarding Team can be contacted through the Jamboree number 01245 905363 or via the team numbers found in the safeguarding policy. If a concern is urgent contact security immediately.

Welfare Team

The Welfare Team is an essential part of the Jamboree experience, providing support and care for all participants. Leaders are the first and best point of contact for their young people, with the Subcamp team and Welfare team offering support and back up.

The Welfare Team have extensive experience in areas such as mental health, equity, inclusion, diversity, and sexual health. They will work together to provide support and information to address the individual needs of all participants.

The Jamboree is an opportunity to review and update the individual needs of all young people and team members/leaders attending. The Welfare Team will work with you to ensure that any necessary adjustments or plans are in place, such as Adjustment Plans within Girlguiding.

The "Welfare - the collective responsibility" document provides further details on the Welfare Team's role and the responsibilities of all participants in promoting the wellbeing of the Jamboree community. Please review this document carefully to understand how we can work together to create a safe and inclusive environment.

Look out for the Welfare and Inclusion Team as they'll be circulating around the Jamboree site wearing turquoise t-shirts.

The Welfare Hub

You can find the Welfare Team at the Welfare Hub, located in the Market Square. The Welfare Hub will be staffed from 8:00 am to 10:30 pm daily. Look out for the team as they'll be circulating around the Jamboree site wearing turquoise t-shirts.

Out of Hours Support

For any issues or concerns that arise outside of the Welfare Hub's operating hours, you can contact the Subcamp Team.
