Role Overview
Champion the needs of under-25 staff at EIJ 2028, many of whom may be away from home in a major operational role, or attending a large-scale event, for the first time. Ensure young staff have a dedicated safety net and are supported by a friendly, inclusive network that helps them build peer connections and enjoy a positive Jamboree experience. Report directly to the Director and Deputy Director of Subcamps.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a tailored support framework for under-25 staff, including digital welcome guides and early communication channels to connect volunteers and ease pre-event anxieties
- Act as the primary advocate and confidential point of contact for under-25 staff
- Work with medical and wellbeing teams and carry out regular morale check-ins to prevent burnout and resolve team conflicts
- Partner with experienced staff to create mentoring opportunities that help young volunteers develop leadership and problem-solving skills
- Represent the needs of under-25 staff during daily briefings to ensure supportive logistics are in place
- Work with the Staff Subcamp Team Leader to manage secure youth camping zones, and work collaboratively with the Wellbeing and Inclusion Team to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach
- Maintain a secure roster of under-25 staff for emergency welfare tracking
- Attend planning meetings and respond to communications in a timely and professional manner, on-site full time for the duration of the event
Who we are looking for
Empathetic and approachable individuals who are natural listeners, non-judgemental and genuinely passionate about supporting young people. A background in Scouting or Guiding, youth work, student union leadership or pastoral care is highly desirable. Creative event organisers capable of planning engaging social activities and designing welcoming spaces are needed. Strong communicators who can use digital tools effectively to reach a young adult audience, while also articulating youth needs clearly to senior Jamboree leadership, are essential.
