Arrival Procedure

We've put together this simple guide together to help ensure that you know what will happen when you arrive at the Essex International Jamboree.

If you have any questions please email info@eij.org.uk.

Planning your journey

Before you set off, please ensure you have the correct postcode and directions for the Jamboree site. As you know we're taking over a farmers field so it's important you take the right entrance; however of course there will be signs up but it's still important to check first.

Vehicle access

As you arrive at the site you will be directed to the car park. If you are a vehicle that needs to access the site to unload group equipment you will be directed to a specific queue.

Each Group will be issued with one vehicle permit that will allow access to the site for one vehicle at a time for unloading equipment, weather dependent. The Permit will be issued by Security as you queue up on Arrivals Day (Saturday 27th July).

If there is more than one vehicle per group only one will be allowed on at any time, the other will need to park up and wait.

Arriving at your Subcamp

Vehicles with permits will be directed to the relevant Subcamp to unload at the perimeter of the Subcamp and then return to the car park immediately. You will be unable to take your car directly to your individual pitch to keep everyone safe, so please come prepared to unload and carry your equipment.

If your participants are arriving individually, please arrange for a leader to meet them in the Village (there will be a clear boundary) where you can take them to their home for the week! Adults dropping off participants are encouraged to ensure the participants carry their gear from the car park and also to depart as soon as the participant is with their leader.

All personal luggage must be carried by individuals to Subcamps.

We highly recommend bringing a trolley with you.

Your Subcamp team will show you where your pitch is and also advise you of the location of your kitchen. Please follow their guidelines and also ensure that you stay within the boundaries that they have set.

You should all have your individual pitch sizes and locations, however if you do not please contact your subcamp team directly [subcampname]@eij.org.uk.

Trailers can be moved onto your pitch, however please be aware cars are not allowed on the subcamps whatsoever, so you will need to move your trailer by pushing or pulling manually. The trailers can remain on your pitch (size permitting) or be moved back to the car park. Your Subcamp Team will be on hand to help and advise.

Return your vehicle to the car park as quickly as possible

Once your first vehicle has been unloaded, please return your permit to the Security team as you return to the car park. If you have a second vehicle, the permit can be transferred to another vehicle (1 vehicle per group at a time allowed on the main jamboree site).

Once parked, please place your car parking sign into your car (if it is staying for the whole week).

Now it's time to head back to your Subcamp Hub where a member of your Subcamp Team will register your group and for the fun to begin.

As a reminder, the Jamboree our first activity is the Opening Ceremony, so it's important that until this time your young people are part of your camp set up and help to unload, pitch tents etc.
