Role Overview

Serve as the central coordination point between the Director of Subcamps and all participant Subcamp Teams. Ensure that subcamp leaders create safe, supportive and engaging camping areas that comply with EIJ 2028 policies and procedures. Oversee operations across all participant subcamps and manage escalated issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of all participant subcamps
• Lead, support and manage subcamp leaders and their teams
• Coordinate with the Wellbeing and Inclusion team on participant welfare
• Handle concerns or issues escalated from subcamp teams
• Ensure subcamp leaders understand and implement EIJ policies
• Facilitate communication between subcamps and the Director of Subcamps
• Liaise with other directorates on matters affecting participant experience
• Attend planning meetings with the Subcamps Directorate and other teams
• Monitor subcamp operations during the event
• Provide guidance and support to subcamp leaders onsite
• Address participant welfare issues promptly
• Contribute to post-event feedback sessions

Who we are looking for

Experienced leaders with strong team management abilities. Calm, responsible individuals who remain approachable under pressure are needed. Understanding of safeguarding and welfare responsibilities is required. Previous experience working in subcamps at large-scale Scouting or Girlguiding events is preferred.
