Role Overview
Plan, deliver and support all technology systems for EIJ 2028 retail operations, including electronic point-of-sale systems, servers and devices. Ensure reliable financial transactions and technical support throughout the event. Lead a small team of IT volunteers and work closely with other departments to deliver secure, resilient technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the IT, EPOS and hardware strategy for the retail directorate
- Lead, recruit, train and manage the technical support team for retail
- Act as the senior technical decision-maker for all retail IT matters
- Produce technical plans, timelines, documentation and contingency arrangements
- Specify, procure, configure and deploy EPOS systems for retail income streams
- Ensure EPOS systems integrate with finance and reporting requirements
- Oversee testing, user training and live support during the event
- Ensure resilience, offline capability and data security for all transactions
- Liaise with the event's IT infrastructure team to ensure network coverage and capacity for retail locations are integrated seamlessly with retail systems
- Manage all retail IT hardware including laptops, tablets, printers and screens
- Oversee asset tracking, storage, deployment, maintenance and decommissioning
- Provide onsite IT support (for retail) throughout the event including rapid-response helpdesk function
- Work closely with catering, programme, logistics, communications and finance teams
- Implement backup response plans for scenarios without internet connectivity
- Ensure compliance with data protection, safeguarding and cybersecurity standards
- Oversee system shutdown, data extraction and hardware returns post-event
- Contribute to post-event reviews and documentation
Who we are looking for
Individuals with strong experience in IT infrastructure, networking or systems administration. Experience with EPOS or transactional platforms is needed. Proven ability to lead teams and work under pressure is required. Knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection and payment security is desirable. This role can be job-shared.
