Role Overview

Support the Director of Response in ensuring EIJ 2028 meets all legal, Scouting and Girlguiding requirements for large-scale events. Oversee operational safety functions including fire safety, first aid, security and site management. Coordinate with the Deputy Chief (Health & Safety) on Safety Advisory Group meetings and ensure timely resolution of all compliance actions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the team of qualified fire officers and ensure site-wide fire safety compliance
  • Arrange noise surveys and monitor onsite noise levels to maintain agreed limits
  • Oversee hygiene and food safety standards across the site
  • Coordinate first aid provision and ensure adequate coverage throughout the event
  • Manage traffic flow and car park operations
  • Oversee security arrangements and marshalling teams
  • Work with the Deputy Chief (Health & Safety) to ensure Safety Advisory Group meetings are held
  • Follow up on SAG actions and ensure completion within required timescales
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Event Management Plan
  • Liaise with directorates to gather safety information for the EMP
  • Attend monthly executive meetings
  • Provide leadership during build week and throughout the event
  • Ensure all operations comply with current regulations and EIJ policies
  • Coordinate with the Council and emergency services on compliance matters
  • Contribute to post-event reviews and documentation

Who we are looking for

Reliable individuals with a logical approach to safety management and problem-solving. Strong communication skills are needed to work effectively with regulatory bodies, emergency services and internal teams. The ability to maintain composure under pressure is required.
