Ex+raJam is a new and exciting event open to Explorers, Rangers and Young Leaders from Essex counties. Brought to you by the Essex International Jamboree Team it will give participants the experience of being a staff member at Essex International Jamboree and keep the spirit alive before 2028!

What does Ex+RaJam mean?

Pronounced "ExtraJam", the name represents everyone who attends: the Ex is for Explorers, the + is for our Young Leaders, and Ra stands for Rangers.

Ex+RaJam will take place from the 26th to 28th June 2026 at Belchamps Scout Activity Centre.

What is the format of the weekend?

Participants and leaders can arrive from 6pm on Friday 26th June with campfire starting at 8pm.

On Saturday, daytime activities will run 10am-12.30pm and 2-5pm followed by a quiz before dinner and evening activities after dinner.

On Sunday, activities will run 10am-2pm with the closing ceremony at 2pm on Sunday 28th June.

Who can attend?

Ex+RaJam is for Rangers, Explorers and Young Leaders from Essex.

Rangers or Young Leaders must be from a Division within one of the following Counties: Girlguiding Essex South East, Girlguiding Essex West, Girlguiding Essex North East.

Explorers and Young Leaders must be from one of the Districts within Essex Scouts.

Do leaders need to attend?

No, leaders are not required to attend. Rangers/Explorers can attend on their own. They will need to register as individuals but can camp together at the event.

How many leaders can I bring?

To maximise the number of participant places please keep the number of leaders to a minimum. Girlguiding and Scouting rules must be adhered to and we suggest a maximum of 3 leaders per Ranger/Explorer Group.

Cost and Payment Information

The Ex+RaJam event fee per participant is £80 and £40 per unit leader. This includes all meals cooked and served. All attendees will also receive an event badge.

A non-refundable £20 deposit is required (for participants and unit leaders) to secure your booking and the remaining amount is to be paid by 31st May 2026.

Registration Instructions

How do I register my group?

Have the following information to hand:

Number of participants and leaders you know will be attending. Only book for the numbers you have received deposits from as payment is required to secure all bookings.

Full details of your unit:

Scouting - name/district
Girlguiding - name/district/division/county
Primary contact details - email/phone number and address

Process for Group bookings

Click register group
Select your organisation: Scouting/Girlguiding
1. If Scouting, from the drop down menu select your District then your unit
2. If Girlguiding, from the drop down menu select your Division then District then unit
Enter your contact details, all fields are required.
Create a username and password. NB. Username must be at least 8 characters. Password must be at least 5 characters
Please ensure you have recorded your username and password. For security reasons, if you forget your username and password, we shall be unable to remind you or reset them. Should you forget either of these, you will need to restart, and any completed forms will be deleted and need to be completed again. This is to ensure there is no chance of accidentally sharing personal information with the wrong person.
Enter the number of participants and leaders (unless booking as an individual). NB. Only book for the numbers you have received deposits from as payment is required to secure all bookings.
Select your preference to stay in touch (yes) or not (no)
Indicate that you give permission for us to store your details. NB We are unable to register your group to attend without your consent for storing the information.
Click Register your Group (even if registering as an individual)

You will then get a Registration Number and be sent a confirmation email to the address you entered in step 6.

Please forward your deposit as described in the confirmation email as soon as possible. The deposit must arrive with us before 31 March 2026 in order to secure your place. Instruction for making payments can also be found on the Ex+RaJam Website.

Don't forget your registration is not complete until we have received your deposit.

How do I register as an individual participant?

Go to https://evboo.eij.org.uk/extrajam and select “click here to book”
Select the correct organisation from the 2 options on the right hand side in the “Individual Participants” section
Enter your contact details, all fields are required.
Indicate whether you have a medical condition
Select your gender
Indicate which organisation you are a member of
1. If you are a YL in scouting click Explorer Scout
2. If you are a YL in Girlguiding click Ranger
Press submit

Complete the Permission and Medical Form. This can be edited later if circumstances change. It must be completed by 12/06/2026

How do I register as a member of staff?

We have currently filled all of our staff places.
If you already have a role at the event you will be provided with a booking link directly. Please contact us using the email at the bottom of this page if you have not received this.

What to bring

Please bring your own tent, bedding, sleeping mat and other camping essentials. If you do not have a tent, please speak to your leader.

We won’t be providing a full kit list, so please get any advice you need from your leader. Remember that even though the event is in June it may still be cold and/or wet. Most activities will be outside and the programme will continue in all weathers unless it is unsafe.

"There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing" – Be Prepared!

The event is fully catered and plates, cutlery etc will be provided but you might want to bring your own mug for hot drinks and a water bottle for during activities.

Please be aware that we’re unable to take responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal items you bring with you.

As a participant do I need a DBS check to attend?

No participants require a DBS check. Rangers who are 18 years old will be attending in the capacity of a young member, so will not need a DBS check.

Is there a requirement to submit all risk assessments along with the Guide Residential Event Notification (REN) form or Scout Nights Away Notification (NAN) form?

EX+RaJam is organised by Essex Scouts and Guides. The event is managed by a group of volunteers who are working within Scout Association and Girlguiding policies and rules.

Ex+RaJam confirms that all instructors and providers will have the correct qualifications, risk assessment and insurance for the activities they are providing.

Unit leaders are still required to undertake and provide their own risk assessments. That should cover any activities undertaken by the unit including for example (but not limited to):

travel to and from the event
welfare of their unit young people and adults
minor first aid
in touch / home contact system

Unit leaders are advised to discuss these requirements locally with the team responsible for receiving REN/NAN forms or to contact info@eij.org.uk for further support.

How will you use Photography / Video / Audio taken at the event?

We will be taking photographs, and recording video and audio material during Ex+RaJam that will be used to promote the positive benefits of Scouting and Guiding.

If you would rather us not take pictures of yourself/son/daughter please contact us by email at info@eij.org.uk to discuss the matter and discuss practical ways of making sure we do not take pictures of you/your child.

All media (video, pictures, audio and social) produced during Ex+RaJam by all staff, leaders and participants remains the rights of Essex International Jamboree and permission is granted for those users to create and share that media, but this can be reviewed and removed at any time.
