What to expect?

Join 10,000 Scouts & Guides from around the world for a week of fun, discovery and adventure.
The Jamboree programme will include a range of adventurous, creative and cultural activities as well as opportunities to meet new friends from around the world.
In the evening the Jamboree comes alive with entertainment including a dance tent, live acts on stages, a cinema and food outlets.

From the moment you arrive to the final farewell, Essex International Jamboree will give you an unforgettable experience and memories to last a lifetime.

What help can we offer you?

We offer advice & support with visa requirements, bookings, transport arrangements in the UK to and from the Jamboree.  We can also help with finding opportunities to extend your stay.

We have many UK units that really want to host international groups and can ‘buddy’ them with your unit. We can match you with one of them, so that yours and their experience of the Jamboree is truly enhanced. It will also mean that you won’t need to worry about what will happen at the Jamboree, as your host will be able to plan this with you.  They will communicate with you before the event to ensure your needs are met. You will have to contribute to extra costs, such as equipment hire and food, but can arrive knowing it is all ready for you!

For international staff and units, equipment hire is available if required.

Who can attend?

The Jamboree is open to all members Scouts and Guides associations registered with WOSM or WAGGS. Participants must be aged 10 to 17. Those aged 18 or over can attend as unit leaders (if they have the appropriate qualification) or join our staff team.

What does it cost?

Site fees will be finalised in 2019.
We do not expect the participant site fee to be more than £200 (it was £160 in 2016).

Where?

Our Jamboree is held in the English Countryside on a 120 acre site at Boyton Cross near Chelmsford, only 40 miles from London.  With access to London and all major airports via the A12 and M25, our jamboree easily accessible to visitors from near and far.  To consider your transport, take a look at our location Boyton Cross CM1 4LN.
The site starts as green fields and our team of volunteers transform it into a fully operational tented village.

When can you register?

International units can register their interest from Summer 2018.
You will then be kept informed about developments. Registering interest does not confirm your booking.
Bookings will open in 2019 for all units and staff.
